On 24 December 2020, the Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the United Kingdom and the European Union (TCA) was concluded, on 27 December 2020, it was made available to the public, and only 5 days later, after its publication in the Official Journal of the EU on 31 December 2020, it was declared “provisionally applicable” as of 1 January 2021. A first overview on this agreement was already provided by our partner Dr Anna Oehmichen on Linkedin on 30 December 2020. In order to be able to shed more light on selected aspects of the TCA (e.g. extradition, other mutual legal assistance, seizure of assets, police cooperation…), she has coordinated a publication project together with Prof. Wolfgang Schomburg (former judge at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and co-editor of the German Standard Commentary on the Act on International Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters), in which international practitioners and mutual legal assistance experts more closely examine these aspects. We are very happy that thanks to the joint efforts of all team members, coordinators, authors, editors of the New Journal of European Criminal Law (NJECL) and the publisher SAGE, the contributions could be made available online so quickly. Some text here that gives an impression of something.
